This stunning vintage two-piece solid maple hutch from the 1960s, originally crafted by the renowned St. Johns Table Company of Cadillac, Michigan, has been meticulously hand-painted by me with a bit of Spanish and folk-art style.
The exterior is a serene grey green base color, accented with bold, flowing rosemaling motifs in rich reds, blues, teals, oranges, and yellows. Large, stylized flowers with scrolling leaves and asymmetric flourishes grace the cabinet doors, while smaller delicate patterns adorn the upper drawers—creating a whimsical, heritage feel that's both elegant and playful. The artwork has been distressed and glazed over with the base color to incorporate it into the piece and give it more of an aged purposeful look.
I've retained and refreshed the original wood hardware, painting the pulls in coordinating reds for seamless integration with the design. The original brass hinges have been meticulously painted to mimic aged wrought iron, adding a rustic, Old World charm. The warm stained countertop provides beautiful contrast, while the interiors surprise with deep cranberry red painted on the arched cabinet doors and a luxurious velvet-lined silverware drawer.
The upper hutch features open display shelves with scalloped edges and beadboard backing—perfect for showcasing dishes or decor. There are also, three hand painted dovetailed drawers for a total of (7) drawers on this entire piece.
The lower buffet offers generous storage: two spacious cabinets with arched doors lovingly hand painted that when open, reveal recessed shelves. There are four dovetailed drawers (including the velvet-lined one).
